Let me just start by saying that yes, I think pregnancy is a beautiful thing. Maybe it has to do with my awesome job. But, I think it is truly amazing. Seriously. And, I am also one of those people that loves being pregnant...most of the time. I have pretty easy pregnancies, but they are not perfect. Somehow, most of the time, I look past the nausea, fatigue, and aches & pains and appreciate the simple joys. My favorite must be feeling a baby move inside me. I LOVE it. And, I love that this little lady moves so much more than her big brother did. It's one of those things that you feel bad that your husband will never experience. But, then again, it's rough on the whole household when he gets a cold, so I can't imagine a dude going through a pregnancy!
But, some days you hit that wall. The one where you simply feel unpretty...from head to toe. Today was one of those days. I won't go into gory details. But, I am pretty sure that parts of me are swollen that simply shouldn't be. And, when I say head to toe, I mean it...I found 3 pirate hairs on my chin, had to put gold ond on my thighs that were rubbing together, and my pinky toenail fell off. It was that moment that the tears came flowing. So, although, for the most part, I think pregnancy is wonderful and beautiful, today was one of those days that pregnancy felt unpretty.
My cheer up came from Eli. We had a fun-filled day of errand running, listening to the Frozen soundtrack the whole time. I love that he tries to sing along, but only the last word of each line come out. So cute. We went to ride the carousel at the mall, and he insisted that he wear his hat ("yee haw hat") for the ride. Not quite a cowboy hat, but the baseball hat would do.
Then, when the sun was in his eyes in the car, he said he needed sunglasses on. So, after errands, we made it back to the mall for a second time to get him a pair, because of course, all of his are lost. I'm glad we wanted them enough to wear them even though it was dark outside. Boy, do I love this guy.
Now, it's bedtime, so I better get my act together for that. The sooner Eli goes to bed, the sooner I can put on my stretchy yoga pants!
And, I can't forget to add that my sisters & mom threw the best little "sprinkle" for me last week. So glad that my mother in law and sis in law could make it also, despite the ice. Can't wait for this little lady to arrive. She's joining a family of really great gals, and she is really lucky.
Addendum:
After I wrote this, I sat on the couch, coughed, and wet my pants. No, my water didn't break. I just peed a little...enough to soak through my clothes onto the couch. Very unpretty. I guess it's time for the yoga pants.
