So, at the end of the day yesterday, this is what I was looking at.
I had so many things on my "to do" list that I just didn't get around to, most of which involved cleaning and laundry. I thought, where on earth has the day gone, and how did I not get anything done? I seem to have a lot of days like this.
Then, I remembered a song by one of my favorite artists, Hilary Weeks...
"And sometimes you feel likeYour days are spent and goneAnd the question running through your mindIs what have I gotten doneAnd when you finally have a moment to slow downAt the end of your day I know Father would say
Believe in what you're doingBelieve in who you areAnd hold tight to the truth that you’re a daughter of GodBelieve in who you’re becoming, believe in who you are"
And, then I remembered that I actually got a lot done today. I cleaned up the strawberry yogurt that was smeared from head to toe on my little one, had a tickle fight on the couch, fed him a PB&J sandwich, watched him go down the slide about 50 times, sat outside surrounded by bubbles, and read him his favorite bedtime story, as he laughed at every page. It may not be anything to write home about. But, these things are the things that I dreamed about doing for years, before I was blessed with my wonderful budding family. Dishes might not get done, and laundry might not get folded. But, dreams come true.
